What are the parts of a car?

Cars are still a part of our life, which help us to get to our destinations on time. Sometimes it is difficult to do because a car is broken from time to time. A car consists of many parts that can be broken and worn. Each driver should know what parts are in the car.

Engine

An engine is one of the main parts of a car and is the reason why the engine is called a heart of a car. The internal combustion engine consists of next mechanisms and systems:

What are the main engine mechanisms?

What are the 5 main engine systems?

Parts of an engine

An engine consists of the cylinder block, parts such as the timing chain, camshaft, crankshaft, spark plugs, cylinder heads, valves, and pistons.

Transmission

Transmission – is a complex of mechanisms and parts that transmit rotation moment from the engine to the drive wheels. Transmission includes clutch, gearbox, prop shaft, differential and drive shafts.

Battery

The battery delivers the electricity needed to run your vehicle’s electrical components and for starting the engine.

Alternator

The alternator is a part of the electrical system, the alternator charges the battery and powers the electrical system while your car is running.

Suspension

Suspension is the system that helps to secure the movement, make it smooth and comfortable. Suspension includes springs, shock absorbers, linkages, wheels and tires.

Steering

Steering allows car to follow the desired course. The steering includes a system of rods, hinges and levers, ball joints, tie rod ends, rack and pinion steering system and idler/pitman arms with the steering mechanism turning the steering wheels.

Brakes

A brake is a mechanical device that inhibits motion by absorbing energy from a moving car. It is used for slowing or stopping a moving car, wheel, or axle, or to prevent its motion, most often accomplished by means of friction.
